This article explains the role of advanced clinical practitioners in the care of patients in the within the arthroplasty (joint replacement) pathway.

Why is it important?

Many patients undergo joint replacement surgery every year. Whilst much of the clinical pathway is delivered and managed by advanced clinical practitioners, there has been very little written about or research into this role.

Perspectives

This article aims to offer a description and summary the current roles and experiences of advanced clinical practitioners in arthroplasty care. It is hoped that will this stimulate discussion and further research in this area.
