Why is it important?

The author emphasizes the importance of allergy status as a medication right to prevent potential medical errors, as well as suggesting the existence of a theory-practice-ethics gap in healthcare


The complexity of healthcare practices today must ensure patient safety. Patient safety is synonymous with patient advocacy. The objective of this article was to provoke discussion, by having healthcare professionals as patient advocates reflect on their clinical practices, and consider that there are patient safety implications.
