What is it about?
Social media is very often used to follow updates from friends, colleagues and organisations, but it can also be a tool for broadcasting sudden and unexpected events—as many discovered at the International Confederation of Midwives' triennial congress in Toronto, Canada. Yet sometimes, the most worthy events do not always make the news.

Why is it important?
This is both a commemoration of the tragic events of the previous few months, and a celebration of the values that midwives embody and uphold. Witnessing conference delegates work together to enter the record books was inspirational and a credit to the profession.
