Why is it important?

Healthcare delivery is very complex and has been shown to be rife with inefficiencies and waste. Most healthcare providers are unaware of the existence and power of operations analysis to provide insights on making healthcare more cost-effective. With increasing availability of clinical, financial and operational data, there's an enormous opportunity to use these tools to control costs and improve quality.
