Why is it important?

Both authors, through different path present utopian states as dystopian ones, or better, as having theirs foundation on dystopia

Perspectives

These works were written almost one hundred years apart and they both share Elliott's idea that "one man utopia is another man's dystopia". Besides, Cordwainer Smith' short story reveals important intertextual connections with French literature, namely, with the French novelist Bernardin de Saint-Pierre.
