What is it about?

In this chapter, a systematic review to cover the literature of twenty years (2000-2020) published on post-disaster recovery was conducted. The literature focuses on multiple disasters including but not limited to pandemics, floods, earthquakes, tsunami, and terrorist attacks. Due to the persistent key role of human resource management in post-disaster recoveries, the employee psychological capital was found seriously depleted from the pandemic. Four key themes namely communication, the role of media, marketing strategies, and tourist behavior were found that helps the recovery of the tourism sector. This chapter closes with suggestions for the tourism sector and post-pandemic strategies for effective recovery from the devastating effects of COVID-19.
