What is it about?

High School Students developed ways to generate even fold distribution in Seismic Surveys for Traditional (P-P) and Converted Wave (P-S) surveys.

Why is it important?

In designing a Seismic Survey, the explorer wants to see an anomaly due to geology not seismic acquisition geometry. By having even fold distribution through out the survey, an anomaly is more likely to be due to geology.

Perspectives

What makes this article unusual is that the main authors were Juniors in High School at the time of the research. It also shows that High School students can take on challenging issues with the help and encouragement of a mentor.
