What is it about?

separation of lithological effect from pore fill remains a daunting task, even if using elastic inversion. This is one of the unsolved problems for hydrocarbon prediction because of complexities coupled with lithologcal trends and fluid responses. we have developed new attributes (SQp and SQs) to solve the mentioned problem. in this attributes, the lithological and fluid effect are able to be separated orthogonally without any projection technique.

Why is it important?

our finding show that the attributes are good proxies for gamma rays (SQp) and resistivity logs (SQs) and can clearly identify the zone of interest with hydrocarbon potential.

Perspectives

I hope this finding can contribute to oil and gas industry especially for reservoir characterization, hydrocarbon prediction, and also for petrophysical properties prediction purposes.
