What is it about?

We have demonstrated the use of redundant lifting scheme (RLS) in suppressing random noise in a potential field dataset for representing the abilities of the RLS in dealing with potential field data. The RLS can be used for a wide range of processing and interpretation of potential field data.

Why is it important?

Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is used frequently in denoising potential field data albeit its drawbacks of aliasing and phase distortion, those arise due to its inherent shift-variant nature. Here, we show that both these drawbacks can be adequately addressed through a modified version of the second generation wavelet transform possess known as the redundant lifting scheme (RLS).
