What is it about?

Woodford Shale Natural fracture abundance, spacing, and aperture distributions

Featured Image

Why is it important?

Understanding natural fracture abundance from the top to the base of the Woodford Shale is important for determining the horizontal well landing spots for hydraulic fracturing. Understanding the fracture opening size is important for understanding fluid flow.

Perspectives

This publication will help operators in the Anadarko and Ardmore Basins in locating zones of high natural fracture density in the Woodford Shale. In addition, this publication gives an idea of the bed-bounded fracture apertures, which may used to estimate the permeabilities of these fractures.
