What is it about?
We show an example from the Barents sea in which the seismic analysis by itself could not distinguish between low saturation gas and a commercial hydrocarbon accumulation. We show that by combining the seismic analysis with controlled source electromagnetic analysis we can dramatically reduce the ambiguity in the result.

Why is it important?
Several wells have been drilled on the basis of seismic data alone, which have found only sub-commercial fizz gas. The approach presented has the potential to ensure wells are targeted successfully at commercial hydrocarbon accumulations.
