What is it about?

A method adapting to geological variation laterally for seismic wave impedance inversion was developed using wavelet transform. The low-frequency and high-frequency components of the inversion result match perfectly to improve the resolution vertically and horizontally of the inversion results.

Why is it important?

The results from inverse wavelet transform are specially suitable for geological variation and naturally merge the low- and high- seismic frequency band information.

Perspectives

Wavelet analysis can represent various frequency bands of a signal in a multi-scale manner, thus offering a flexible representation of formation impedance signals. Seismic exploration signals are essentially the wavelet transform of formation impedance signals, and the formation impedance can be quickly obtained through inverse transformation.
