What is it about?

The paper is the Expanded Abstract version of a presentation at the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) Convention in Las Vegas, 1983. The paper presents the foundation of integration strategies in petrophysics that could be extended to other exploration disciplines, such as geology and reflection seismic.

Why is it important?

The paper presents criteria for integrating rock property measurements for quantitative and predictive reservoir characterization. 1) Individual rock property measurements are deficient in interpreting the subsurface. 2) They earn relevance and character only when they are integrated or occur in appropriate relationships with other rock property measurements they are related with. 3) Graphical techniques or crossplots involving the interrelations are then used to extract geologic/reservoir properties. The concept of rock property interrelations has so much potential in practical applications and research.

Perspectives

The applications demonstrated in the paper barely scratch the surface of the body of knowledge that could result from the innovative principles presented in the paper. I am excited to be a pioneer in the effort to propagate this knowledge.
