What is it about?
Fatigue during exercise will not only reduce muscle strength and power, but also increase skill errors. This study shows that bicarbonate supplementation can prevent decline in service and groundstroke accuracy and consistency after an exhaustive tennis game. Bicarbonate, an alkaline compound, can prevent muscle fatigue by neutralize the increased acidity during intensive exercise. This is the first study that shows bicarbonate is also helpful in maintaining skill performance.

Why is it important?
Service and groundstroke accuracy and consistency are as important as agility and power in tennis matches. The accuracy and consistency worsen when the muscles are tired. This study shows bicarbonate, a legal supplement that can prevent muscle fatigue in high-intensity exercise, can maintain racquet control after a tennis match. It can be used by all levels of tennis players.
