What is it about?

Pseudomonas aeruginosa continues to be the leading cause of healthcare-associated infections worldwide. Moreover, the treatment of infections caused by such bacterium is a challenge. Therefore, assessing the antibiotic resistance patterns will help optimizing therapeutics in the future.

Why is it important?

Data on antibiotic resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Jordan is sparse and recently a noticeable increase in multidrug-resistant strains have been observed. Our objective was to examine the resistance patterns through the detection of the PER-1 gene in comparison with other classes of antibiotics.


The was my first attempt to disseminate findings from my own master’s thesis. It is considered a stepping stone towards climbing the research ladder holding such sentimental value. I hope you find it thought-provoking.
