What is it about?

Conducting polymers are plastics that behave similarly to metals, such as in their ability to conduct electricity. These materials can be conveniently made into coatings using methods described in this paper. Their properties are also discussed. A further second part to this paper presents some of the applications of these materials.

Why is it important?

There is a constant search for new materials. Whilst a particular material may have many desirable properties, its application may be limited due to certain characteristics. Conducting polymers bridge the gap between plastics and metals.
