What is it about?
The purpose of this paper is to establish a model which can calculate the exit residual deflection by inputting the reduction rules, and ultimately get the best reduction rules. The model is based on the pure bending springback equation of the symmetrical section curved beam. A cosine function to express the relationship between reduction and curvature. The model can be a theoretical foundation to optimize the straightener parameters and the reduction rules with the higher accuracy.

Why is it important?
Straightening as an important finishing step in the manufacturing process of H-beam, directly determines the ultimate straightness of H-beam. Previous studies based on the finite element simulation. Expressing the relationship between reduction and curvature with cosine function is unprecedented. This successful theoretical model can predict straightening results and optimize straightening rules with greater efficiency and accuracy. This model has been applied in engineering practice.
