Why is it important?

Findings indicate that we can influence relative activation of medial and lateral hamstring components. This may be of significance when developing programs that aim to prevent multi-planar (non-contact) knee injury, and also after knee injury or hamstring strain, when assessing/rehabilitating hamstring function.

Perspectives

Medial/lateral hamstring strength and activation levels may play a role in knee/hamstring injury prevention and rehabilitation. This should interest physical therapists and athletic trainers.
