How is the curriculum addressed in school external evaluation frameworks in Portugal and England

What is it about?

the paper explores how the curriculum, a major part of the schooling process, is addressed and considered in the external evaluation of schools. Focusing on the frameworks used to guide the evaluation processes, it was possible to draw some conclusions: (1) the curriculum is conceived as an open project; (2) the evaluation frameworks focus on teachers’ role as curriculum developers ; and (3) the frameworks reveal a concern with assessing the actual classroom environment and functioning.

Considering that the curriculum and its development are essential parts of the quality of teaching and learning, and bearing in mind that quality assurance is increasingly important in school management, it is important to explore and understand how the latter (quality evaluation) addresses and considers the first (the curriculum)
