What is it about?
This article is about inequality in Italian schools. It looks at the relative role of family and schools in contributing to unequal school outcomes in the context of a system that tracks students into vocational or academic pathways.

Why is it important?
Our findings suggest that schools need to engage with families and to understand the social, cultural and intellectual needs of all students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
