What is it about?
Dialogic Literary Gatherings (DLGs) have proved to be a successful action for making meaning and enjoying classic literary texts among young children. Primary children read an agree chapter of a suitable edition of a classic text (e.g. The Odyssey) at home, and select an idea from the text to share with the class in the DLG. When implementing DLGs children's academic attainment raises significantly and they develop social and moral values, emotions and feelings. This has been proved in several European and Latin American countries.

Why is it important?
Improving cognitive, social and emotional development in a whole-class setting is possible through dialogic interactions around a classic text.
Perspectives
This is a meaningful paper because it speaks about the impact that educational research can have on individuals' lives. In this case, it presents the personal transformation of a 11-year old child and his family as a result of a school-based research.
