Why is it important?

It is important to remember that after an abdominal and pelvic oncologic surgery the patient should recieved extended venous thromboprofilaxis to reduce the risk of fatal pulmonary embolism.

Perspectives

The adherence to extended venous thromboprophilaxis could be improved througt education, but the effort should be a continous one and only the motivated groups reach adequate adherence.
