What is it about?

Different elements of suicidal communication have been explored; however, the understanding of suicide attempters’ perception of surrounding people’s reactions is scarce. This study aims to unravel perceived reactions of surrounding people to suicidal communication and their effect on suicidal intent.

Why is it important?

This study sheds light on suicide communication processes and their difficulties in the Lithuanian sample, one of the post-soviet Eastern European countries, with very high suicide rates. Our results emphasize the importance of changing general cultural norms and specific reactions to suicidal reports in similar contexts to ensure effective suicide prevention.
