What is it about?

Young people are at higher risk than adults of developing mental health conditions and yet are less likely to seek help or to adhere to extended treatment regimens. To address this issue we explore the utility of a single-session therapy (SST) approach to treating mental health issues in young people. Our research shows that SST is effective in meeting the needs of young people and their families/carers. Both young people and their parents rated their experience with the therapeutic session relatively highly and also reported an improvement in the young person’s psychosocial well-being after participation in SST.
