What is it about?

The article describes obstacles and possibilities with ethical strategies to handle ethical problems in end of life care for patients dying due to acute stroke, seen from the perspective of stroke team members.

The article show the uncertainty as a major obstacle and unanimity as a possibility. The article also illuminate the concept of "the patients best interset" as a starting point for the carers ethical reasoning but it also poins to the fact that the concept is not explicitly defined which makes it diffucult to use as a universal concept and as an argument for decisions.

Perspectives

The article points to weekness in the carers argumentation used to justify their choices and raises questions about paternalism. The need for the carers to reflect on their actions and the need to take starting point in ethical values for their argumentation is pointed out.
