The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics released a position statement in support of breastfeeding yet has done very little to educate accredited nutritionists and dietetitians in breastfeeding. The Academy should mandate a minimum level of education in breastfeeding and offer optional practicums in lactation for nutrition and dietietics professionals.
