In addition to a conventional physical therapy program, backward walking training is more effective than forward walking training on spatiotemporal gait parameters, and gross motor function measures in children with hemiparetic cerebral palsy.

Why is it important?

There is a lack of well-designed randomized controlled trials to investigate the efficacy of backward walking training for the walking abilities of children with cerebral palsy. So, the aim of this study was to assess the effect of backward walking training on spatiotemporal gait parameters and gross motor function measures in children with cerebral palsy through a comparative analysis with forward walking training, and determine whether the effects last after the interruption of the interventions.

Perspectives

Participation in this article was a great pleasure to me. This article added to novel knowledge to rehabilitation of cerebral palsy children and encouraged me to do further researches that examine the effectiveness of backward walking in different neurological and musculoskeletal disabilities.
