What is it about?

Multi-storey extensions of socialist blocks of flats under post-socialist transition in are identified as one of the main trend in change of urban and built environment in Serbia, with prominent negative environmental and spatial consequences both at the level of an urban block and at the city level.

Analyzing critical aspects of the process of multi-storey extension of inherited building stock, our findings identify potential policy adjustments that can utilize this phenomena as a model for development and upgrading of inherited building stock and urban structure.
