What is it about?

Users of a cochlear implant on one side and a hearing aid in the opposite ear are often not satisfied with their combination of devices. We propose a method how a temporal alignment of the two devices can be established. Our intervention had a positive effect on sound locaization in the horizontal plane.

Why is it important?

A very large proportion of all cochlear implant users wear a hearing aid contralaterally. Therefore, many patients could benefit from the presented method.

Perspectives

With a new generation of audio processors of cochlear implants, the proposed method could be transferred into clinical routine.
