What is it about?
With growing environmental awareness, companies are moving towards practices that are kind to the environment. However, even though there are guidelines to help companies with this, it is tough for smaller businesses, especially in developing countries. This study explores how small businesses in Ghana are practicing eco friendliness, and its impact on their business. The study found that many small businesses in Ghana are trying to move towards sustainable practices, even though they do face some challenges. But, they are doing so to protect the environment. Moreover, customers are also likely to support companies which have adopted such practices. These businesses are, therefore, finding different ways to be more eco friendly, depending on what they do, and it usually improves their situation. But the study also found that some small businesses, especially those that are not officially registered, still need some help. This calls for support from governments to help these businesses become more environmentally friendly.

Why is it important?
Large companies are trying to be more environmentally friendly. But, smaller businesses often find it difficult to do the same. They may not have enough money to make such changes, and their ability to make a huge impact may not be directly seen. This study shows that small businesses can try to be more environmentally friendly, and these practices have a good impact on their business. Every small effort can play a part in making the world a better, greener place. KEY TAKEAWAY: It is not only the big companies that can help make the planet greener. This study shows that even small businesses with limited resources, can do things that are good for them and the environment. This research relates to the following Sustainable Development Goals: • SDG 13: Climate Action • SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
