What is it about?
After the CEFR Companion Volume was published in 2018, the curriculum for English in the Bilingual Sections of the Community of Madrid was revised, and linguistic mediation was included in the subject 'Advanced English' in the last stage of secondary education. This study used a questionnaire and a focus group to examine teachers' understanding and awareness of linguistic mediation, the mediation activities they consider relevant for their students, and how far they include mediation activities and strategies in their lessons.

Why is it important?
The study shows some of the shortcomings in how linguistic mediation is currently being addressed in the classroom, as well as what teachers need in order to implement it better.
Perspectives
This study, written with Silvia García Hernández, is part of my work on linguistic mediation and on how the CEFR Companion Volume is being put into practice in secondary schools.
