Ian G. Barbour was the DEAN of the new field, Theology and Science. Here I track the impact of his ground breaking book of 1966, "Issues in Science and Religion." Barbour's four models for relating science and theology--conflict, independence, dialogue, and integration--set the agenda for other scholars for half a century.

Why is it important?
