What is it about?

We measure the thickness of tear lipids repeatedly after addition of two commercially available eyedrops

Featured Image

Why is it important?

This shows that the response of the lipid is dependent on baseline lipid thicknesses. Those people with baseline thicknesses above 60 nm do not show any significant increase after application of these drops.

Perspectives

Baseline lipid thickness by interferometry (lipiview) may be useful before starting patients on artificial tears containing lipids.
