What is it about?

In this contribution, we review the theoretical discussions on authorship and extract a differential model for the analysis of author constellations (constellations of text production) and author figurations (the textual representation of its authorship). This is followed by an overview of the development of author concepts in East Asian literatures.

Why is it important?

The contribution proposes a novel integrated model for the analysis of authorship. It synthesizes reflections on the concept and theory of authorship from fields such as literary theory, theology, media studies, history, medieval and classicist studies and Sinology in order to built a differential model that can be applied to the analysis of texts from all periods of literary history.
