This paper critically assesses the epistemological foundations of JT Fraser's "Hierarchical Theory of Time," one of the most elaborated and comprehensive theories of time. It shows that several problematic aspects of Fraser's theory may be remedied by factoring in the aspect of cognitive activity in the construction of Fraser's hierarchical levels.
