What is it about?

A total of 46 teeth were extracted. 23 alveoli were filled with corticocancellous porcine bone, while the other 23 where covered with a collagen sponge. Three months after, bone expansion was permormed and 46 dental implants were placed. Tissue volume changes were recorded after extractions, at fixtures implantation and at three months post-operative

Why is it important?

Grafted molar sites showed bone volume preservation while ungrafted molar sites underwent a kind of collapse

Perspectives

This study underlines the importance of grafting post-extraction sites, especially when the effort of expanding bone is programmed to gain volume
