What is it about?

Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization is an important soft ionization for bio-molecules. The ionization remained unclear for long time. We demonstrate that the thermally induced proton transfer model can describe the ionization properly.

Why is it important?

A correct model not only help understand the ionization process, but also provide the opportunity to improve the MALDI tecnhique.

Perspectives

Further experimental evidence to support the thermal model and the increase of sensitivity based on the model will be published in near future.
