Why is it important?
Contact tracing is an effective component of pandemic management. But little is know about it in most countries since it was not implemented. It is important to better understand Chinese experiences with contact tracing as we plan for future pandemics.
Perspectives
Ironically the conference at which this paper was originally presented (held in New Orleans in May 2022) turned out to be a COVID superspreader event. It was interesting to see how the conference participants appropriated Twitter and other social media to try to do their own ad hoc contact tracing.
