What is it about?

Some philosophers claim that digital technologies are not just tools but actively shape our perception and experience. In this approach, technologies, when used, always establish relationships between us and our surroundings, enabling us to perform actions and offering experiences that were not possible before. How do technologies affect our museum visit? How do they change it? How do they influence our understanding of history? What senses do they enhance, and which ones do they weaken?

Why is it important?

Digital experiences transform the way we engage with culture, driving new forms and practices of participation. New technologies are changing the concept of a "museum visit" towards a "museum experience" that is active, engaging, based on knowledge exchange, and interaction. With the widespread use of technology and multimedia in museums, there is a strong need for a better understanding of how technological innovations support the museum's mission and shape visitor experiences.

Perspectives

I hope this article makes the reader look differently at technologies and rethink our relationship with them by looking at how simple activity of museum visiting is strongly shaped by new technologies.
