What is it about?

Wireless medium in wireless NoC is shared among multiple wireless interfaces for data communication. So, fairness in medium access is extremely important for system performance, when there are many wireless interfaces. The proposed 2DMAC framework is the perfect solution that addresses this problem for the state-of-the-art as well as future systems.

Why is it important?

2DMAC is not only congestion aware but also data criticality aware framework that makes it different from the other existing MAC protocols for wireless NoCs. It is a dynamic protocol that can decide the most deserving wireless interface candidate for accessing the wireless channel during the system run.

Perspectives

I believe, 2DMAC is a unique protocol for wireless NoCs with many wireless interfaces. It dynamically tunes the channel hold time and channel arbitration pattern to get the best benefit in terms of system performance. The proposed protocol shows an optimistic promise for the future wireless NoC based systems.
