It is about the occupational health and safety conditions faced by rag pickers in Brazil.

Why is it important?

Because this is a group of workers whose working conditions are not well known and studied throughout the world, though they are exposed to a variety of hazards without much protection.

Perspectives

This is an important piece of work because it surveyed a large number of difficult to reach workers in a midsize city located in the South of Brazil. It provides good evidence to the hazards faced by these informal workers in a peripheral society.
