Why is it important?
Not only viral RNA, DNA or viral proteins could act as sensor molecules to trigger innate immune activation, we showed that virus entry pathways provide different environments that also could sense viral invasion into cells.
Perspectives
We think this study revealed how versatile vaccinia virus interacts with cellular environments and the results also suggested that cellular anti-viral signalling could be induced by multiple layers of viral triggering including entry routes.
