What is it about?

Adapting the existing design of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) to meet the requirements of the future mission Origins Space Telescope. The primary objective of our report is to show that a 4.5 Kelvin telescope in the size needed for Origins is realizable and technologically feasible.

Why is it important?

Reusing existing space telescope architectures can save time and money.

Perspectives

Next generation space telescopes such as James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) can take 20+ years to develop from concept to reality. Why start from scratch when you can save time and money by modify an existing design with similar requirements?
