What is it about?

A complete record of the DIV types and their phylogeny was missing.

Why is it important?

We provide a detailed and systematic description of DIV alleles and propose an easy and comprehensive nomenclature. A large case collection of DIV carriers with anti-D is presented.

Perspectives

We propose an improved routine typing strategy, which would avoid anti-D immunization in pregnancies and transfusions of individuals carrying the DIV phenotype or some other partial D.
