Why is it important?

This study investigated HPV infections among women living with HIV and having apparently healthy women as controls in West Africa where previously, little had been studied on the human papilloma virus causing cervical cancer.

Perspectives

This study is an eye-opener as it draws our attention to accumulating health burden on people already facing a health challenge (women living with HIV). Overlooking an emerging risk such as HPV infections will worsen their condition.
