What is it about?

Nurses have developed several kinds of theories to guide research and practice. In this paper, we reviewed 35 experimental studies to see if there is any difference in theory guided and non-theory guided practice.

Why is it important?

Nursing students and nurses often argue that nurses theories are very abstract and cannot be applied in practice settings. We examined the studies to see if theories can be applied for improving patient care outcomes.

Perspectives

This topic is very important to me as I have always advocated for the use of simple nursing theories and argued against the development of estoric theories. I believe if nurses and nursing students find it daunting to apply estoric theories, then such theories should be abandoned.
