To be maintained it It also requires social acceptability, community participation, succession planning within 'friends of' and other community based organisations, financial planning and the ability to tap into new sources of financial support. This paper summarises the contents of a special issue of Restoration Ecology which includes examples of these different aspects of ecological conservation and restoration.
