What is it about?
Protein glycosylation is an essential modification in eukaryotes. Many fundamental aspects of eukaryotic protein glycosylation are conserved in archaea, suggesting the possible origin and evolution of eukaryotic glycosylation systems from archaea. In this study, we analyzed the N- and O-linked glycosylation processes in an extremely halophilic archaeon and expanded our understanding of archaeal version of protein glycosylation.
