Why is it important?
The study helps us to understand why speakers of a particular language (e.g. Mandarin Chinese, Korean) find it easier/more difficult to acquire English articles.
Perspectives
For me, speakers of languages that don't have an article system are usually treated similarly in the language acquisition literature. However, from this study, it is apparent that speakers of article-less languages experience different problems when acquiring the English article system, and so simply defining languages as 'article-less' might not be telling the full story.
