What is it about?

This paper looks at the way in which Robbins uses second person in his novel Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas (1994) in order to subvert the reader. I argue that Robbins, who is notorious for his alternative views on society and his lack of shyness in proclaiming them, is not quite so obvious in the way he presents arguments as he might seem at first. Aware of the fact that simply telling people to think for themselves does not lead to true independence, I examine some of the strategies by which Robbins tricks his readers into thinking critically.
